'This new Oxfordshire-based contemporary piano trio, featuring pianist/composer Martin Pickett, takes a simple but pleasantly effective Jarrett-esque approach to translating tunes by the likes of Van Morrison, Elvis Costello as well as Metheny and Wheeler.'

Jazzwise, April 2008

'First Hearing, by 3bpm... takes us straight into the harmonic elegance of European jazz. Led by Martin Pickett on piano there are strong hints of ESP and Trio while still maintaining individuality. Pickett has a clear yet restrained approach that gives space to the extended harmonies; he only occasionally lets out a swift phrase, which is thus all the more effective. Paul Jefferies puts in solid, unfussy bass lines that enhance the clarity and Ben Twyford on drums remains restrained throughout. Pickett's own tracks and arrangements are models of jazz that can be listened to or just gently absorbed.'

Paul Medley, Oxford Times, March 2008

'This young and exciting jazz trio consists of pianist Martin Pickett, drummer Ben Twyford and bassist Paul Jefferies. The invigorating playfulness of Van Morrison's Cleaning Windows jumps straight out and captivates from the very first bars. There's an honesty and immediacy at work across the 11 tracks with Martin's originals standing favourably alongside such gems as Elvis Costello's Baby Plays Around, Tom Waits's Jockey Full of Bourbon and Pay Metheny's The Red One. The potential-packed trio displays a collective maturity throughout and gel most pleasingly during an absorbing version of the Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush hit, Don't Give Up.
